We will continue to travel off strip to hotels and casinos, because places like GVR offer better value for us. It is owned and operated by Station Casinos, and includes a 143,891 sq ft (13,367.9 m 2) casino. GVR is big enough to get away from it and we play during off hours too. Green Valley Ranch is a hotel and casino located within the eponymous community in Henderson, Nevada. We do not want to ban smoking in casinos, we just think it makes good business sense to cater to both like the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. Editorial note: 79% of the population does not smoke now, so it is hard to understand why casinos continue to cater to the 21%. There are non-smoking slot areas, but no non-smoking bar that I could find, so when I got pinned between two chain smokers, I had to get up and leave. The casino is a short on bars, I only found two with video poker progressives where I love to sit for hours and have fun. The restrooms are kept clean and the food court offers many options in addition to a good cafe and an average buffet.
Its great quality off-strip, we take first timers out to GVR, Red Rock and the M Resort to show them what a high quality time they can have and not be in the crowds on the strip.
Its hard to believe that casino does not exploit this 30+% edge game like Red Rock does. The machine selection is excellent, but there is no live Keno.
We enjoyed playing at GVR's casino, we go there every trip.
